Crossbill

Another ‘invader’, with large numbers irrupting from the Continent and UK breeding grounds some years. Forms noisy family groups, or occasionally larger flocks, and usually seen flying from the top of one conifer to another, in search of the seed cones they feed from. Males are a distinctive brick-red.
