Rough-legged Buz­zard

As many as 150 ar­rive from Scan­di­navia some au­tumns, gen­er­ally win­ter­ing around south­ern and east­ern coasts. Broadly sim­i­lar to our own Buz­zard, but has longer wings, a black­tipped white tail, a pale head, and a habit of hov­er­ing reg­u­larly and well – our na­tive Buz­zard looks clumsy by com­par­i­son.
