Can you help me ID these ducks?

I was at Kenfig Pool in South Wales and could see this pair from a dis­tance. I’m quite new to the bird­ing world but can’t seem to ID these? Phil Evans

QDucks can be tricky to iden­tify for begin­ners, es­pe­cially those that are less com­monly seen. That grey, ver­mic­u­lated plumage, along with the black ‘sterns’ of these birds, tells us that these are both Gad­walls. The seem­ing lack of the white ‘sugar lump’ specu­lum can be ex­plained by the fold of the wing

Aand over­ly­ing feath­ers as the birds swim. The grey-black bills in­di­cate that these are both male
