RARE AMERICAN SPECIES

-

We have a number of regular and expected gulls. But when checking through flocks of gulls, the prize is one of the rarer species. North America provides us with the darker-backed, hooded Franklin’s and its larger cousin the Laughing Gull, plus the small, Black-headed Gull equivalent, the Bonaparte’s Gull. Also, there is the Ring-billed Gull, which is like a large Common Gull or small Herring. For the real enthusiast, the American Herring Gull has now been officially split from our Herring Gull. Study the fieldguides and the internet galleries, learn and find your own!
