RARE AMERICAN SPECIES
We have a number of regular and expected gulls. But when checking through flocks of gulls, the prize is one of the rarer species. North America provides us with the darker-backed, hooded Franklin’s and its larger cousin the Laughing Gull, plus the small, Black-headed Gull equivalent, the Bonaparte’s Gull. Also, there is the Ring-billed Gull, which is like a large Common Gull or small Herring. For the real enthusiast, the American Herring Gull has now been officially split from our Herring Gull.
