The train drops you at Ryde pierhead, where the ferry returns you to Portsmouth Harbour station. Buses serve Bembridge and St Helens WHERE TO PARK: As it’s a circuit, you could park in several places, at the windmill as suggested or on Laundry Lane at SZ 621 883, or in St Helens at SZ 629 884, or even in Bembridge itself, where parking is a bit tricky TERRAIN: More than three miles of public footpath and lane, some cautious road edge. Predominan­tly flat, often muddy ACCESSIBIL­ITY: The downhill section from the windmill to SZ 630 872 can be thick mud after protracted rain. Take a stick! FACILITIES: Pubs in Bembridge and Brading, one in St Helens, cafés and coffee shops in Bembridge and on St Helens green (the biggest village green in England).
