KEY POINTS

1 Park at Storiths and walk down the hill towards the woods. Check out the vista for raptors.

2 Enter the wood along the River Wharfe checking out for water birds as you walk towards the first foot bridge, called Cavendish Bridge.

3 Continue up river checking the nest boxes for Pied Flycatcher singing outside them. Woodpecker­s are a good bet here.

4 Cross Aqueduct bridge to head downstream. Check the Beech areas for singing Wood Warbler. The river has a high population of Mandarins. Check the shaded areas for this duck.

5 Just as you enter the visitor area look out for Dippers on the main rocks in the river as they nest close to here. Return over the footbridge to your starting point.
