Bird Watching (UK)

WAYMARKERS

-

1 From the car park cross the river bridge. There are dabbling ducks such as Mallard and Teal, Mute Swans and Pied Wagtails around for you to see.

2 Walk up to the castle ruins and see House Sparrows, but check them for Tree Sparrow. House Martin and Swallow are around in the summer.

3 Back down to the river and walk in a westerly direction. So you have river, patches of woodland and open areas. All six tits are about, and Blackbird, Song Thrush, Fieldfare, Robin, Dunnock and Wren can all be seen. Blackcap and Spotted Flycatcher can be found, and Bullfinch has been recorded. Also the river encourages Dipper with Kingfisher, Goosander, grebes or Grey Heron likely.

4 Then watch the open area for Sky Lark. Buzzard and Kestrel will be seen and it’s just possible that you may see a Red Kite. Goshawk is in the general area so you may see one. Barn Owl is possible.
