HIGH­LIGHTS: The be­gin­ning of the month saw both Glau­cous and Ice­land Gulls on the is­lands, with the Glau­cous Gull re­main­ing on St Mary’s (to 28th). The two Black-necked Grebes re­mained in the har­bour through­out. A Cattle Egret, Firecrest and two Short-eared Owls were on Tresco (8th). On St Mary’s, the Cetti’s War­bler reap­peared at Porth Hel­lick and a Great Spot­ted Wood­pecker was on Lower Moors. Three Mediter­ranean Gulls were seen at Porth Loo (11th) with six in Porth Cressa (14th). The Great Spot­ted Wood­pecker was seen again at Porth Hel­lick (17th). The Cetti’s War­bler was at Porth Hel­lick late in the month. A pale-bel­lied Brent Goose was at Pen­dra­then (25th). A Balearic Shear­wa­ter flew west past Penin­nis (26th). Will Wagstaff
