HIGHLIGHTS: The beginning of the month saw both Glaucous and Iceland Gulls on the islands, with the Glaucous Gull remaining on St Mary’s (to 28th). The two Black-necked Grebes remained in the harbour throughout. A Cattle Egret, Firecrest and two Short-eared Owls were on Tresco (8th). On St Mary’s, the Cetti’s Warbler reappeared at Porth Hellick and a Great Spotted Woodpecker was on Lower Moors. Three Mediterran­ean Gulls were seen at Porth Loo (11th) with six in Porth Cressa (14th). The Great Spotted Woodpecker was seen again at Porth Hellick (17th). The Cetti’s Warbler was at Porth Hellick late in the month. A pale-bellied Brent Goose was at Pendrathen (25th). A Balearic Shearwater flew west past Peninnis (26th). Will Wagstaff
