HIGHLIGHTS: Dolydd Hafren held a Bittern (from 8th), possibly the one seen at Llyn Coed y Dinas last month. The Bearded Tit remained (to 15th). There were seven Goosanders, a Mandarin, Little Grebe, Water Rail, 55 Wigeon, 40 Curlews and four Oystercatc­hers. Llyn Coed y Dinas (21st) had four Pochards, seven Shovelers, 26 Tufted Ducks, 14 Wigeon, 15 Lapwings and 16 Snipe, with a Pintail (25th). Hen Harriers were at Cors Dyfi and Carno. Two Mandarins were reported from a garden stream which separates Montgomery­shire from Shropshire – they were said to be closer to the Montgomery­shire bank! Two Tree Sparrows were in another garden. The writer’s garden held 12 Siskins and six Lesser Redpolls. Waxwings remained. Several Chiffchaff­s, a Dipper and Grey Wagtail were at Pwll Penarth. Brayton Holt
