MONTGOMERYSHIRE
HIGHLIGHTS: Dolydd Hafren held a Bittern (from 8th), possibly the one seen at Llyn Coed y Dinas last month. The Bearded Tit remained (to 15th). There were seven Goosanders, a Mandarin, Little Grebe, Water Rail, 55 Wigeon, 40 Curlews and four Oystercatchers. Llyn Coed y Dinas (21st) had four Pochards, seven Shovelers, 26 Tufted Ducks, 14 Wigeon, 15 Lapwings and 16 Snipe, with a Pintail (25th). Hen Harriers were at Cors Dyfi and Carno. Two Mandarins were reported from a garden stream which separates Montgomeryshire from Shropshire – they were said to be closer to the Montgomeryshire bank! Two Tree Sparrows were in another garden. The writer’s garden held 12 Siskins and six Lesser Redpolls. Waxwings remained. Several Chiffchaffs, a Dipper and Grey Wagtail were at Pwll Penarth. Brayton Holt
