BRADFORD: A Lesser Spotted Woodpecker recorded in the Washburn Valley (6th), a Snow Bunting seen at Ringby Top (24th) and an Iceland Gull seen at Cullingwor­th were the highlights. Eight Waxwings were at Yeadon (17th). Pink-footed Geese passed through the area en masse, with nearly 400 over Queensbury (5th). Five Whooper Swans were at Ogden (14th). Cononley Ings held maxima of 750 Lapwings, 720 Wigeon and 530 Curlews. There were 57 Mandarins at Lindley Wood Reservoir (25th). Four Tree Sparrows were at Dobrudden Farm (4th). Thirty Bramblings were at Ogden (mid-month). The Water Rail remained at the Keighley Reserve. LOWER AIRE VALLEY: Nine tundra Bean Geese were on the ridge and furrow (7th), with two Russian White-fronted Geese there (17th) and nine (22nd). The Scaup at Skelton Lake and Long-tailed Duck on Lemonroyd Lake remained throughout. Two Smew were at Skelton Lake (9th), with a pair on Lemonroyd Lake (10th). The Great White Egret dropped in on a few days. A Green Sandpiper was seen several times at Lemonroyd. There was an Iceland Gull (13th), and Glaucous Gull (19th). A Kittiwake was at Skelton Lake (5th). Two Short-eared Owls continued to show. Five Waxwings were in Swillingto­n village (11th), increasing to 70 (26th). A Cetti’s Warbler was heard (14th).
