OLD MOOR: Little Egrets peaked at 14 (5th), a new site record for February. There was a Marsh Harrier (5th), and 10 Black-tailed Godwits plus 15 Whooper Swans (27th). The Mediterran­ean Gull, Stonechat, Cetti’s Warbler and three Bearded Tits remained throughout the month. Four Waxwings (4th) were followed by three more (22nd). Starling numbers built up to 20,000. A Common Scoter was recorded at Broomhill Flash (10th). OTHER SITES: Four White-fronted Geese were at Adwick Washlands (1st) with one remaining all month. A further 35 were at Ingbirchwo­rth throughout. Adwick had a Marsh Harrier (5th). The Bean Goose remained at Orgreave/ulley Reservoir. Waxwings included 150 at Burngreave Green (3rd), 115 at Birdwell (8th), 58 at Goldthorpe (9th), 200 at Monk Bretton (11th) and 230 at Cudworth (12th). The Bittern remained at Carlton Marsh. A Hen Harrier was at Hatfield Moors (26th). Ten Ringed Plovers were seen at Cudworth Common (17th), with a Red Kite there (21st). Two Short-eared Owls were at Hatfield Pit Tip (4th) with three at Silverwood Lagoons (21st). Two Iceland Gulls were at Hampole/skelbrooke (2nd), with others at Foley Street/warren Street Sheffield (7th), Lakeside, and Orgreave (24th). A Kittiwake was at Lakeside (16th). Potteric Carr held three Bitterns, two Scaup (5th), eightcetti’s Warblers, a Marsh Tit and two Marsh Harriers. Nigel Smith (nigelsmith­994@gmail.com)
