TRUMPETER FINCH

May is the best month for these tiny rare southern finches. Tiny? Yes, only about Blue tit sized. In the UK, they are usually found at the coast, with most records from the east of the country, with Norfolk and Kent being favoured counties. There have only been 16 accepted records of Trumpeter Finch in the country, but nine of these have been since the turn of the Millennium, so perhaps there is a trend of a slightly increased chance of finding one.
