PELLET CONTENTS

As with many other birds, Barn Owls regurgitate indigestible material (which is mainly fur and bones) as pellets. ‘Dissected’ pellets reveal exactly what an owl has been eating, usually consisting of lots of fur and the skulls, jaws, limb bones and ribs of mammals such as voles or other small rodents (as below) and shrews.
