Bird Watching (UK)

WAYMARKERS

-

1Check the church tower and trees for Collared Dove, Woodpigeon, House Sparrow – and check for Tree Sparrow. Jackdaws are around and in the summer months look for hirundines.

2Along the lane check the hedges and stream for Blue, Coal, Willow and Great Tits, Blackbird, Wren and Dunnock.

3Cross the open area and look for Barn Owl, Pheasant and Buzzard. You may also see a hovering Kestrel, a Swift in the sky or a low flying Swallow. Red Kite is seen in the general area, so see if you can see one.

4The woodland area has several different types of trees – pines attract those lovely little Goldcrest, the oaks the favourite of Jays, the birch attracts Siskin but all have to be aware of a hunting Sparrowhawk. Some areas attract Great Spotted Woodpecker and Treecreeper and Nuthatch can also be sighted, so keep a look out.
