HIGHLIGHTS: Garganeys were at Marazion (20th-30th), Walmsley (21st-23rd) and Swanpool (26th). A Lesser Scaup was on Dozmary (1st) and then on Siblyback (21st-28th). A White Stork flew over Penzance (21st). Cattle Egrets were widespread. A Night Heron was around St Ives (8th). A Purple Heron visited Indian Queens (18th) and Crousa Downs (19th-23rd). A Great White Egret was at Crousa Downs (5th), Sennen (6th) and Amble Marshes (7th). The Hayle Spoonbill remained, and was joined by a second bird (1st-14th). Sandpipers were at Walmsley (23rd). The Hudsonian Whimbrel was at Perranuthn­oe (1st-8th). There was a White-tailed Eagle at St Austell (6th). A Black Kite flew over Goonhilly (16th). A Red-footed Falcon was at The Lizard (22nd-23rd). Ospreys were noted on passage (6th-14th). A Little Gull was on Hayle (2nd-7th), with a Ring-billed Gull there (1st-6th) and Glaucous Gull (12th-15th). A possible Azorean Gull was at Sennen (23rd). Iceland Gulls were widespread. A Short-eared Owl was at Porthgwarr­a (2nd). Another, plus a Long-eared Owl was at Trevose (9th). Hoopoes were at the Lizard (8th) and Heligan (9th). Wrynecks were at Nanjizal (9th) and Lizard Point (23rd). Woodchat Shrikes were at several sites (1st-27th). Hooded Crows were at Sennen (14th) and Lizard Point (18th). Red-rumped Swallows were at Penberth (9th) and Nanjizal (23rd). Eight Water Pipits were at Walmsley (2nd). Yellow-browed Warblers lingered at Falmouth (to 14th). A Western Subalpine Warbler was at Land’s End (23rd-24th). Ring Ouzels included 27 between Nanquidno and Cot (18th). Lapland Buntings were at Trevose (8th) and East Pentire (17th). Serins flew through Nanjizal (5th) and Rame Head (30th). Two Little Buntings were around Goss Moor all month.
