KEY POINTS
Check for waders along the Ghleannain, as this is a great place for finding some of the freshwater-preferring waders. Look for Otters here, too.
Even on these narrow roads there should be time to scan for raptors hunting over the grassland. And scan Loch Don for waders and gulls.
Any woodland in this area is worth checking for spring migrants or perched raptors. Red Deer are always lurking somewhere in this area. 4 Another section of woodland – Wood Warblers are possible here, along with Tree Pipits.
You have to walk the last bit of the road to Grass Point. Look out for chats, pipits and wagtails. There is a good chance of both eagles in this area.
Seawatching here has had a real mix of records, with even cetaceans passing Grass Point. Don’t think summer is the only time to see whales from here. Look for bait ball ‘activity’ and scan.
