GARGANEY

The elusive, shy, scarce Garganey is a breeder in shallow freshwater areas with plenty of covering vegetation. They are roughly Teal-sized, brown at the front end, with distinctive long, white supercilium; grey in the middle and brown at the rear. Females are like chunky Teals with bolder face patterns. Only males make the weird crackling rattle call.
