1 From the lay-by, have a look at the stream then walk up the track and check for Blackbird, Dunnock, Wren, Blue, Great and Coal Tit.
2 Then come to an open, level area with scrub and hedge with Yellowhammer, Buzzard, Kestrel and possible Barn Owl.
3 And now it’s the steep hill up to the hillfort. Here in the woodland and cliff face check for three woodpeckers, Chiffchaff, Willow Warbler, Tree Pipit, Whitethroat and possible Lesser Whitethroat in spring and summer. Also a marauding Peregrine may be seen.
4 Finally head toward Bear’s Wood and the brook to see Dipper. Watch the woodland edges for Sparrowhawk.
