Look what we saw during our Big Garden Birdwatch!
While doing our Big Garden Birdwatch on 27 January, we saw two exceptional birds among our ‘regulars’. A redpoll appeared and shared niger seeds with the Goldfinches. And much to our amazement, a male Hawfinch was eating sunflower seeds from the bird table! We live on the outskirts of a large village, adjoining the recreation ground, and bordered by hedges and trees, so we have some good habitat. We have Great Spotted Woodpeckers feeding on peanuts and fatballs most days. We’ve not seen the Hawfinch again, but will keep looking. It really was a fantastic bird to see in our garden!
