HIGHLIGHTS:

Three Velvet Scoters were in Weymouth Bay (1st), with one off Durlston CP (13th) and one in Poole Harbour (17th, 22nd & 28th). Black Brants were at Ferrybridg­e, Brands Bay (20th) and Middlebere (28th). There were 2,500 Wigeon in Holes Bay (20th). Slavonian Grebes were at Todmoor on The Fleet (4th), Poole Harbour (12th & 28th), Weymouth Bay (30th) and Arne RSPB (31st). A Red-necked Grebe was in Portland Harbour on five dates. A Sooty Shearwater passed Portland Bill (29th). Five Cattle Egrets were at Chilcombe (4th), with two at Portesham (8th) and five at Abbotsbury Swannery (6th). Up to three Great White Egrets were at eight sites. Poole Harbour held four Hen Harriers (27th) and six Sandwich Terns (17th). Red Kites flew over Studland (21st) and Upcerne (23rd). Green Sandpipers were at West Knighton (13th) and Lodmoor RSPB (21st). The Stilt Sandpiper at Brownsea Lagoon and Lesser Yellowlegs at Lodmoor remained throughout. Three Great Bustards flew over Portland (16th & 17th). A Bonaparte’s Gull was at Lulworth Cove (1st). A Glaucous Gull was at Abbotsbury Swannery (13th). A Little Gull was at Portland Bill (17th). Iceland Gulls were there (26th) and in Chesil Cove (29th). Late Swallows were at Boscombe (8th) and Hengistbur­y Head (9th). There were 45 Rock Pipits at Church Ope, Portland (22nd). Six Water Pipits were at Cowards Marsh (21st). Siberian Chiffchaff­s and Yellow-browed Warblers were at various sites. Hawfinches included 130 at Bryanston Cliff Woods, Blandford (24th). There were 100 Crossbills at Bere Heath (6th).

OTHER SITES:

Poole Harbour held Great Northern Divers, 19 Black-necked Grebes, a Bittern, Spoonbills, Grey Plovers, Knot, Sanderling, Marsh Harriers, Hen Harriers, a Merlin and Water Pipits. The Fleet had 22 Barnacle Geese (1st), pale-bellied Brent Geese and seven Scaup. Two Eiders were off Mudeford Quay (2nd). Black-throated, Red-throated and Great Northern Divers passed Hengistbur­y Head, with 33 Common Scoters there (15th). A Jack Snipe was in Brownsea Lagoon (21st). A Black Redstart was at Portland Bill. Eight Great Northern Divers were in Weymouth Bay (2nd). Lodmoor held a Bittern and six Ruff (15th). Firecrests were at several sites. A Great Grey Shrike was in the Wareham Forest (28th).
