DERBYSHIRE

HIGHLIGHTS:

The Great Northern Diver remained at Carsington Water, with two Black-necked Grebes there (16th). A Great White Egret and Bittern were at Willington GP. A Long-tailed Duck was at Drakelow. A Smew was at Church Wilne Water Ski Pit (20th), with four at Aston-on-trent GP (from 21st). Two Glaucous Gulls roosted at Foremark Reservoir (18th), with singles (19th & 30th). Up to 12 Parrot Crossbills were with Common Crossbills in Derwentdal­e at Howden Reservoir (from 2nd).

ASTON-ON-TRENT GP:

There were two Lgitrtleat Egrets, 29 Goldeneyes, eight Goosanders, fosuur Cetti’s Warblers, two Chiffchaff­s, a Pintail, Golden Plover and Raven.

CARR VALE:

There were two Little Egrets, three Goosanders, two Peregrine, 12 Water Rails, a Whooper Swan, 300 Pinkfeet, an Egyptian Goose, Merlin, 10 Golden Plovers, a Barn Owl, 108 Pied Wagtails, a Cetti’s Warbler, three Chiffchaff­s, a Marsh Tit and Brambling.

CARSINGTON WATER:

Highlights included 20 Little Grebes, a Little Egret, 66 Wigeon, 17 Gadwall, 424 Teal, four Pintails, nine Shovelers, 143 Pochards, 240 Tufted Ducks, 13 Goldeneyes, ten Goosanders, six Sparrowhaw­ks, seven Buzzards, two Peregrines, two Water Rails, 80 Pinkfeet, 27 Barnacle Geese, a Shelduck, 35 Golden Plovers, four Dunlin, five Ruff, 25 Snipe, four Woodcocks, eight Redshanks, a Jack Snipe, 2,000 Common Gulls, three Yellow-legged Gulls, a Stonechat, five Ravens, a Brambling, 60 Siskins, 13 Bullfinche­s and three Hawfinches.

DRAKELOW:

There were 314 Cormorants, three Goldeneyes, six Goosanders, two Woodcocks, two Snipe and a Pintail. GP: There were seven Whooper three Red-crested six Goldeneyes, 12 Goosanders, two Water Rails, a Pintail and Jack Snipe.

OGSTON RESERVOIR:

Highlights included a Little Egret, five Mandarins, five Goldeneyes, eight Goosanders, 74 Pinkfeet, two Egyptian Geese, a Goshawk, Peregrine, Water Rail, Dunlin, Redshank, 325 Lapwings, two Caspian Gulls and a Barn Owl.

WILLINGTON GP:

Little Egrets peaked at 21. There were three Goldeneyes, three Goosanders, 12 Water Rails, a Goshawk, Common Sandpiper, Greenshank, Redshank, Mediterran­ean Gull, two Caspian Gulls, four Ravens and two Willow Tits.

OTHER SITES:

Two Whooper Swans were in Longdendal­e. A Common Scoter was at Staunton Harold Reservoir. Jack Snipe were at Arkwright Town, Longdendal­e and Chaddesden Sidings. A Mediterran­ean Gull and Yellowlegg­ed Gull were at Sinfin Moor Wetlands. A Yellow-legged Gull and seven Caspian Gulls roosted at Foremark Reservoir.
