Nuthatch muddy nest holes
Look out for the distinctive nest holes of Nuthatches, this month. They are usually old holes of Great Spotted Woodpeckers, which the Nuthatches plaster with mud around the edge, to make them Nuthatch-sized instead of woodpecker-sized! If you are lucky, you my find a pair of Nuthatches in the process of using their bills to make the muddy surround.
