By train: Less than two hours from London and Birmingham on selected services. Train services operate from all over the country (and from the Eurostar for European services) to Taunton, Tiverton Parkway and Bridgwater, as well as the Tarka Line from Exeter to Barnstaple. Onward bus and taxi services operate from these stations to key settlement­s within Exmoor, the Coast and the Quantocks. By coach & bus: National Express provide coach services to Bridgwater, Taunton, Tiverton and Barnstaple which in turn link to Minehead and some of the larger villages in the area. Berry’s Superfast also operate coach services between London Victoria and Bridgwater, Taunton and Tiverton. Freedom is closer than you think! By car: Exmoor is 150 miles from London and Birmingham. The M5 motorway comes fairly close to this area and links with the M4, or the A303 offers a more scenic alternativ­e when travelling from the South East. To reach the Quantock Hills, West Somerset Coast and the eastern side of Exmoor, leave the M5 at junctions 23 or 24. These will bring you to Bridgwater. From Bridgwater follow the A39 which skirts around the northern edge of the Quantock Hills to Williton. The A358 from Taunton links with the M5 and A303 to Williton. From Williton the A358 continues along the western edge of the Quantock Hills. You can continue along the A39 from Williton and this will bring you to the eastern side of Exmoor at Dunster and Minehead. To reach the western side of Exmoor, continue along the M5 to junction 27 for North Devon. From here follow the A361 towards Barnstaple. At the first roundabout you reach, you can turn right along the A396 which takes you along the River Exe valley and the southern edge of Exmoor. Otherwise, keep on the A361 for a further 19 miles to reach Aller Cross roundabout. Turn right here on to the A399 towards Combe Martin. This will bring you along the western edge of Exmoor with various roads to the right taking you into the moor and the N Devon coast on Exmoor. By air: The nearest internatio­nal airports are found at Exeter, Bristol and Cardiff. Car hire is available from all airports, along with onward coach and bus/rail connection­s (see above). There are also regular coach links from Heathrow with links to Gatwick, Stansted and Luton airports.
