HIGHLIGHTS: A Black-necked Grebe was on High Rid Reservoir (2nd-3rd) and another was on Pennington Flash (3rd-4th & 25th). An Osprey flew over Little Woolden Moss (3rd) and a Wood Sandpiper was on Chat Moss (4th-9th). An Osprey flew over Oldham (25th). Three Sandwich Terns flew through both Elton and Audenshaw Reservoirs (25th). ELTON RESERVOIR: A maximum of three Redstarts were seen (10th-25th). Up to three Wheatears (23rd-30th) and a Whinchat (23rd-25th) passed through. Several Tree Pipits flew over. A Merlin was seen (13th-19th) as well as

a Hobby. Up to two Garganey were present (15th-26th). A maximum of six Spotted Flycatcher­s was seen. A Little Egret was in the area. One Green Sandpiper dropped in. PENNINGTON FLASH: Up to two Common Scoters were seen (13th-16th). A Garganey dropped in (22nd-31st). A Kittiwake flew through (24th). Two Redstarts dropped in (16th-20th). Up to two Common Sandpipers and one Green Sandpiper were seen as well as at least five Black-tailed Godwits and a Whimbrel. Two Med Gulls were seen. Two Little Egrets were recorded. MERSEY VALLEY: A Wheatear was in Southern Cemetery (21st). A Hobby was over Shell NR (21st). OTHER SITES: Up to two Pied Flycatcher­s were at Winter Hill (9th-12th) as well as a Black Redstart (30th), while a Kittiwake (21st) and four Common Scoters (23rd) flew over. Audenshaw Reservoir sightings included an Arctic Tern (1st). An Arctic Tern was at Rumworth Lodge (19th). Two Turnstones (20th) and a Common Scoter were seen at Hollingwor­th Lake (20th-31st) as well as a Black Redstart (24th). Dr Paul Brewster (01606 590491)
