Bird Watching (UK)

It’s only fair

-

I first went to Birdfair in 2005, and it was so good to see all the tents and look at all the new gear, meeting other like-minded people and listening to talks. I went to Pensthorpe in 2019, as I was working in August that year. It was a great site, but it was only about 8 or 9 tents. It was so different from Birdfair, but that was how the first event started. I do hope we get a new Birdfair in the near future.

The editor says: We’re very sad to see Birdfair go, too, but we have no doubt that a successor event will be created, most likely to start in 2023 – we know the appetite for it is there. Mission accomplished

Bird 200 of #My200BirdYear. Great Northern Diver. It’s been an amazing year of exploring, spotting and jotting. Much harder than I imagined when signing up. I’ve been to some amazing places, though, and a few dodgy ones, too; it’s amazing where these birds can turn up. I’ve met many fantastic people, made new friends and of course, seen loads of incredible birds, many for the first time ever. It’s been brilliant. I’ve been creating sketchbooks of all the birds seen this year, I’m a bit behind with these but if you’re interested, please feel free to check them out and connect on Instagram – leeellams (the hopeless birder). Well done to everyone who attempted their own 200, no matter your final number, nothing beats just getting yourself out there for some nature therapy. It’s been great following everyone’s progress and seeing some really incredible photos from your efforts.
