Highlights

Up to three Penduline Tits were at Elmley

NNR on the Isle of Sheppey, Kent, during the month. The same county did not miss out on Alpine Swift sightings, with several around the coast.

BEDFORDSHI­RE

HIGHLIGHTS: An Alpine Swift flew south over Eyeworth (30th), and also there was a Great Grey Shrike (5th, 7th, 9th & 29th). Two Waxwings remained at Cranfield until 19th. An Osprey was seen flying over Broom and Southill (29th). 29th.Three Whooper Swans were at Harrold (23rd-27th) and a Kittiwake was at Broom (25th). BERKSHIRE

HIGHLIGHTS: Three Hawfinches were at Aldermasto­n (1st) and one at Fobney (12th). A Marsh Harrier was at Eton Wick (3rd and 28th). A Bittern was at Lavell’s Lake. A Kittiwake was at Theale Main Pit (7th). Two Cranes flew over Maidenhead (7th). Fobney Meadow had a Water Pipit (11th). A Garganey moved between Lea Farm Lake and Lavell’s Lake (18th-24th).

Greenham Common had a Ring Ouzel (20th-24th). Five Black-necked Grebes were at Lower Farm GP (22nd). Thatcham Marshes had a Cattle Egret (23rd-26th). A Merlin was at Bury Down (27th). Queen Mother Reservoir had a Grey Plover, Brent Goose and Black-necked Grebe (29th). Elaine Charlson

BLASHFORD LAKES AND THE AVON VALLEY: An Alpine Swift flew over Ibsley Water (24th). A Scaup arrived on Ibsley (from 12th) and a Black-necked Grebe was present again
