Tributes to teacher, 32, found dead

-

DEVASTATED colleagues and pupils have paid tribute to a “beautiful and elegant” teacher found dead aged just 32.

Katie Humpage’s body was discovered by her parents at her Walsall home on July 26.

An inquest heard she had recently split up with her boyfriend.

Colleagues at South Wolverhampton and Bilston Academy, where Miss Humpage taught English, said they were stunned by her loss.

Principal Kerry Inscker said: “Miss Humpage was an exceptionally talented teacher and leader who was very highly regarded by staff and students.

“She was passionate about teaching English and was dedicated to her students. She had a hugely positive impact on us all.

“Katie was a beautiful and elegant young woman, her loss is very deeply felt.”

A former pupil said Miss Humpage was the “best teacher I’ve ever had”.

Ellie Davies said: “Honestly the best teacher I’ve ever had, but she was also a lovely person.

“Miss Humpage got me through my first year of A-level English and gave me confidence in my work, even if it wasn’t amazing.

“I think I speak for all her students when I say she will be missed dearly. “I’m so thankful to have known her and I hope that she has found peace... a truly wonderful person.”

The inquest into Miss Humpage’s death was opened and adjourned until September 15 by Black Country Coroner Zafar Siddique.
