THIS is the first glimpse of Birmingham’s new Olympic-sized swimming pool where the Adam Peatys and Rebecca Adlingtons of the future will be training.

The city’s first-ever 50-metre pool is now filled with water and will be open to the public in a matter of months.

It is situated at the showpiece £55 million 360 Sport and Fitness Centre at University of Birmingham.

When it opens in December, it will be the only Olympic-sized pool in the West Midlands – Nottingham, Manchester and Loughborough are currently the nearest ones.

Coventry’s 50m pool is closing shortly and its replacement is not due to be built for another three years.

University bosses say the sparkling new pool will be open to the public seven days a week from 6am until 10.30pm (8pm at weekends) and have something for everyone. at the university, said: “Because of December, the chemical balance Because of its innovative hi-tech the moveable floors and boom, and temperature of the water has to design, it can be turned into several we’ve actually got three pools in one. be altered to make sure it is clean, different pools. “That means we can put on a safe and warm.
