£80,000 compensation paid to eight of paedophile PE teacher’s victims
EIGHT people abused by a paedophile PE teacher while children have received more than £80,000 compensation from Birmingham City Council.
Marcus Marcussen was jailed for nine years in February 2015 after carrying out a string of historic sex attacks against 14 boys.
He was 91-years-old when he was jailed, making him one of Britain’s oldest offenders.
Marcussen was a former teacher at Illmington Road Comprehensive School in Weoley Castle between 1957 and 1978.
Detectives arrested Marcussen, who also ran swimming lessons at the Square Club, after reported the historical 2012.
It then emerged the teacher had forced boys to use a swimming pool while naked, and had abused others at a youth club and in a shower block.
Now it has been confirmed that eight of the survivors, who were abused over three decades, have received settlements from the city council.
Other survivors are still progressing their legal claims.
