Bruce explains captaincy decision over Chester
STEVE Bruce says his decision to leave James Chester as captain for Villa’s defeat at Leeds was purely down to him not wanting to ‘ change anything’.
Chester surprisingly led the team out, despite club captain Tommy Elphick being back in the starting line-up for the first time in over a month.
Elphick profited from Nathan absence place at defence.
Asked whether his decision to leave the armband with Chester was something permanent, Bruce said: “No, I just left him as captain because I didn’t want to change anything.
“I know Tommy Elphick is the club captain but I just Baker’s injury to reclaim his the heart of the wanted to keep the run going on. I didn’t really think anything of it, to be honest.”
Meanwhile, Villa striker Libor Kozak has opened the door for a January return to Lazio by admitting he ‘owes a lot’ to the club.
The 27-year-old isn’t part of Bruce’s long-terms plans and the manager said last week that he needs to find a new home in the transfer window. Kozak, who arrived from Lazio in 2013, said: “I owe a lot to the Biancocelesti, I arrived very young and everyone made me feel at home.
“I have no words to describe the Lazio fans. Every adjective would be superfluous. No-one knows how to love as the Biancocelesti fan.”
