300 new homes planned for Longbridge site

-

MORE than 300 new homes and a community centre are to be developed in Longbridge as part of the long-running regeneration of the town.

Birmingham-based St Modwen, the property developer and investor leading the £1 billion project, has submitted new plans to build up to 335 homes, a community centre and more public open space on land at East Works Drive, in Cofton Hackett.

It is planning to build 185 new properties on the southern part of the site and 150 homes as well as a multi-purpose centre off Groveley Lane.

The new developments will comprise a mix of family homes in a variety of styles and the proposals also include new pedestrian links to the wider area, supporting infrastructure and landscaping.

Regional director Steve Prosser said: “This further phase of new family homes marks another step in the ongoing regeneration of the former Longbridge complex and will provide a mix of new homes together with extensive public open space and will see the delivery of a new community facility for the parish council.

“With 229 new homes delivered at Longbridge East through the St Modwen and Persimmon joint venture, and work well under way on 41 new properties at St Modwen Homes’ Cofton Grange development, these latest applications will enable us to bring forward more high-quality homes.”

The wider regeneration of Longbridge includes a new Sainsbury’s and Marks & Spencer alongside other retailers, a hotel, Bournville College, commercial space and roadworks.
