Rotary club raises impressive total

-

DEAR Editor, Over the busy festive period we have collected the brilliant sum of £6,543.

This had only been possible through the kindness of members the public who have most generously donated to our recent collections, starting at the Boldmere Extravaganza, on Wylde Green Parade, at Tesco in New Oscott and at Asda in Minworth.

We also much appreciate the support of the management and staff of Tesco and Asda at what we know is a particularly busy time for them.

Knowing how much pressure there is on everybody’s wallets during the Christmas season particularly, it is great to know that so many people donated to our collections that go to supporting local communities.

Whilst many local charities will benefit from this period of fundraising, I have chosen my main focus this year to be in the field of dementia, to help and support people with dementia and their families.

The Alzheimer’s Society (2015) reports there are more than 850,000 people living with dementia in the UK today.

It is estimated that the number of people living with dementia in the UK by 2025 will rise to more than one million.

It is important that an accurate diagnosis is correctly made as early as possible to ensure that appropriate advice, support and treatment is given and plans for the future can be made.

Here at the Wylde Green Rotary Club we’re a group of enthusiastic, fun-loving and active volunteers, happy to give of our time and talents to serve communities.
