JLR in probe over nude picture of female worker
THREE Jaguar Land Rover managers are under investigation for allegedly being part of a Whatsapp group which shared a picture of a naked colleague.
Two male managers at the firm’s Solihull plant have been suspended while an internal investigation takes place.
A third is currently under investigation, while two further men are understood to have been cleared of involvement.
The Post understands the firm launched a disciplinary investigation after a worker complained to management about allegedly being shown a mobile phone image of a naked woman at the factory, which employs more than 5,000 workers.
It is understood the investigation centres around claims the picture was uploaded to a private Whatsapp group.
The probe is said to be examining claims that managers may have then exchanged messages about the picture.
The incident is believed to have come to light when one worker showed the image to a colleague. Management then became involved and a senior manager was appointed to deal with the disciplinary investigation.
Two men are said to have been suspended and are under investigation. A third is also under investigation.
A source said: “One of the men showed the image to someone who wasn’t impressed and management got to hear about it.
“The lady involved had no idea about any of it until she was told by management. She will obviously be upset.”
A Jaguar Land Rover spokesman declined to comment on the case.
But he added: “We have a very strong dignity at work policy. The company aims to ensure that harassment is not present at work and where this behaviour exists it is effectively and fairly dealt with.
“Harassment includes circulating offensive material. We encourage our people to report harassment wherever they see it.”
