Reece’s loan with Spireites ended early
BLUES have confirmed Reece Brown has had his loan with Chesterfield terminated by the League One outfit.
The 21-year-old joined the on transfer deadline day in a deal until the end of the season.
However, Brown is now back at Birmingham after what Chesterfield boss Gary Caldwell described as ‘a few incidents’.
Blues confirmed the move in a statement, which suggested the youngster’s future could now be in the balance.
“Due to loan regulations, Brown will not be available for Blues’ first-team fixtures,” the announcement said.
Brown is out of contract at the end of the season and given that he won’t be able to play for Gianfranco Zola’s side, he will have to prove himself worthy of a new deal in another way.
The club will have to decide whether they want him to play for the under-23s for the remainder of the season.
Caldwell said: “Reece has gone back to Birmingham, we had a few incidents and I just felt it was best he go back.
“I believe he’s training there. When we sign players we all sign players and we’ll all take credit, and then we’ll all take responsibility when it doesn’t work. It was a club decision.”
Brown made just two substitute appearances – against Oldham and Bury – but has not been involved since February 18.
Meanwhile, Blues will continue looking at Hednesford youngster Remeao Hutton but will not be following up their interest in two other trialists.
Hutton played the final half-hour of Monday night’s 2-2 draw with Bristol City Under-23s and will continue to train with Richard Beale’s squad.
However, neither Tom Rosenthal nor Jevani Brown were involved in the match and will not stay with Blues.
