Wychavon second on list of top places to live in UK
WYCHAVON has been named as the second most desirable place to live in rural Britain.
The 2017 Halifax Rural Areas Quality of Life Survey has rated the Worcestershire borough as one of the best places to live in the countryside due to a range of factors.
For example, the survey highlights the area as having a high average male and female life expectancy of 81.2 years and 84.5 years respectively.
Wychavon also has some of the biggest and best homes in rural Britain. Properties in the district average around six habitable rooms – with nearly 100 per cent of these homes having central heating and superfast broadband.
Wychavon district includes the area in and around Pershore, Droitwich Spa and Evesham.
Low CO2 emissions, a high employment rate and high weekly average earnings also make the Worcestershire district a desirable place to live.
Adults in the district are among the happiest in Britain, with Halifax’s research suggesting they have one of the highest levels of life satisfaction in the country.
The area just missed out on the top spot behind the Orkney Island, which gained first place after scoring highly on crime rates, education and leisure.
The Derbyshire Dales, Hambleton and Purbeck in Dorset make up the rest of the top five rural areas.
Eleven districts in the South East made the list, as well as nine in the South West and eight in the East of England and East Midlands.
