City’s trees felled as parks go wanting
DEAR Editor, Figures obtained by Freedom of Information laws show that more than 150,000 trees have been removed from urban highways since 2010 at a cost of £16 million and tens of thousands not replaced.
Birmingham City Council, which topped the highest number of trees felled at more than 9,200, says it replaced 7,800.
However, Birmingham City Council and Amey said Birmingham is one of the greenest cities in the UK. One wonders for how long?
The city seems to have ample funds for tree felling but is short of funds for the maintenance of our parks.
It is time our councillors woke up to this waste of our finances.
