the fans by the end of his reign, which was laid bare during Monday’s abject defeat to Burton.

But that total relationship breakdown was limited to the manager and didn’t turn supporters away from backing the players on the pitch.

Redknapp now must reward that support with something tangible to get behind in the final few games because the fans deserve far more than they have been served up. any measure of success and fans will be desperate to see something different deployed in the fight for survival.

Blues should not be in this mess with the players at the club’s disposal – and finding a tactic that produces results is required.

Emilio Nsue and Kerim Frei have both been successes in the Championship before and Redknapp must draw out all of their ability because Blues need strong performances.

Cheick Keita, meanwhile, has huge potential and one would think he would prove a popular choice under the new boss. Redknapp needs to ensure the January joiners step up to the plate.
