Armed gang raid casino a second time

-

ARMED raiders brandishing machetes fled with thousands of pounds after a Birmingham casino was held up for the second time in two months.

A cashier was punched and customers terrorised as five masked men stormed the Genting Casino in Norfolk Road, Edgbaston, at 2am last Thursday.

One customer suffered a broken leg after jumping from a window to escape.

A gambler who fled fearing for his life said customers initially thought it may have been a terror attack.

He said: “I was inside with three friends when five guys came in waving large machetes. Initially we thought it was a terror attack because of recent events involving machetes. We were separated as we fled and my friend suffered a serious knee injury.”

The same casino was raided on the evening of Easter Sunday, April 16, in a similar hold-up which saw five masked offenders armed with knives and an axe escape with cash.

A gambler caught up in the latest alert said he saw “no security at all” before Thursday’s raid.
