Work starts on Pebble Mill hospital

-

WORK has started on a new £22 million private hospital on the old Pebble Mill site in Birmingham.

Circle Health is behind the development which will include three operating theatres, expandable to six, an endoscopy procedure room and 18 in-patient bedrooms.

The building has been designed to be adaptive so Circle Heath can change it in the future in line with the hospital’s needs.

It is being built by Lincoln-based Simons Group and is expected to take 18 months to complete.

Circles Health’s chief executive Paolo Pieri said: “This state-of-theart hospital will bring to Birmingham the high-quality care and excellent hospitality for which Circle Health is well-known and is an important part of Circle’s strategy to add scale to the group.

“The intention is also to add a significant number of beds for physical and neurological rehabilitation, along with the latest rehabilitation technology.”

Real estate investor Medical Properties Trust is funding the project.

Circle Health was founded in 2004 and runs hospitals, rehabilitation and health services in Bath, Nottingham and Reading.

The former home of the BBC at Pebble Mill is being transformed into a hub for medical facilities including a new school of dentistry and student accommodation.
