Look over border to solve bins row

DEAR Editor, As a non-resident of Birmingham I have a great deal of sympathy for the residents suffering at the hands of the council dustmen.

It appears to me that this type of action is something that seems to happen every year for one reason or another.

However, I do have a very simple solution to your woes and that lies just over the border in Solihull. For a very long time now our refuse collections have been privatised and run by Amey. They provide a first class service, always collect on the right day and have never missed a collection.

There are virtually no complaints in the media about their operations.

So get Lisa Trickett and her fellow councillors to spend a day across the border in Solihull examining its model. Then they can set about privatising the service in Birmingham and all your troubles will disappear in an instant.

We even have a free green waste collection provided so an end to that problem as well.
