Chadli back on his feet thanks to Healing Hans

- Paul Suart Football Writer

WEST Brom have an inventive German doctor to thank for reviving Nacer Chadli – but the cure can’t be found in calf ’s blood!

Chadli marked his first Premier League appearance of the campaign with a fabulous free-kick that earned a point at Leicester City.

The Belgian had been a doubt for the Monday night after suffering from chronic pain.

That was until he consulted Dr Hans-Wilhelm Müller-Wohlfahrt, whose stellar list of clients includes Pep Guardiola, Usian Bolt and Bono.

Dr Wohlfahrt, otherwise known as Healing Hans, is renowned for offthe-wall treatments.

They include the use of goat’s blood for injections to combat hamstring problems.

But the colourful medic had a more traditional prescription for Chadli.

“He didn’t inject me with calf ’s blood,” Chadli joked. “If it was blood I would have known it.

“It’s a treatment where he your back.

“Then you see a chiropractor for some exercises then you need to keep doing it to make your back stronger and better.

“It’s not just makes you better.”

Chadli has been seeking the advice of Dr Wohlfahrt since recurring back problems during his Spurs days. an major clash back injects injection that

“I’ve known him for many years now. It’s not just now I use it, I use it for years. Since I was at Spurs.

“It’s an old treatment, not only an injection.

“I need to see chiropractors, physios and stuff like that.”

Chadli was left out of the team for the first three league games before a muscular strain that derailed his campaign further still.

But the Belgian is on the mend and back with a goalscoring bang.

He said: “I had a muscle strain which is why I was out and then I also got back pain. “Now it’s better and it’s alright. “I just came back so for me it’s about getting 100 per cent fit with game time.

“I don’t have pain any more so for me it’s important to get my fitness back.”

Leicester goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel was rooted to the spot as Chadli’s expertly curled free-kick left him wrong footed.

Chadli’s first strike since February emphasised his enormous ability and could just kick-start his stuttering Albion career.

But he’s not quite sure where the goal ranks in his back catalogue.

“I don’t know I need to see my goals back,” he said. “But I think it was a very nice one.” Meanwhile, Tony Pulis might be forced to field rookie Alex Palmer on Saturday amid a “worrying” goalkeeping injury crisis.

Ben Foster was ruled out of the 1-1 draw at Leicester with a knee injury sustained during a garden kickabout with his little boy.

His stand-in Boaz Myhill was in the wars during a lively Midlands derby.

The Welshman was unable to kick properly for much of the second half after a thunderous collision with Jamie Vardy.

Pulis is now sweating on the fitness of Myhill as he contemplates travelling to Southampton at the weekend without a senior stopper.

“I don’t know what happened with Bo because he was taken for a drugs test,” Pulis said. “We’re not going to know if it’s hamstring, back or groin, but I’m sure we’ll find out.

“Ben has hurt his knee which is an enormous worry for us because I think Ben is one of the best keepers in the Premier League and we’ve got to check.

“It might be minor. We’ve got to make sure that he’s scanned and we find out exactly what it is before we move on.

“At the moment we exactly what it is.

“He was playing with his son in the back garden and he’s just tweaked his knee and we’re a little bit concerned because he’s had the cruciate. There was no way in a million years we were going to take the risk with him.”

Myhill was in such discomfort at the King Power that he was taken off goal-kicks.

Palmer, 21, warmed up along the touchline as Myhill underwent treatment, but the Welshman was not about to give up easily on his first Premier League appearance in 18 months.

He soldiered on to the end meaning that Palmer will have to bide his time before making his Baggies bow.

“I got (goalkeeping coach Jonathan) Gouldy to go round and ask him if he wanted to come off but he wanted to stay on, which is fine,” Pulis added. don’t know
