Accountancy firm’s unique staff approach is a winner
AN ACCOUNTANCY firm like no other is how one partner at PKF Cooper Parry describes the practice.
With breakout areas, a table tennis table and open holidays, this may just be one of the most modern and forward-thinking firms out there.
PFK Cooper Parry’s current set-up was formed in early 2016 following the merger of the Castle Donington firm with Birmingham-based Clement Keys to create one of the Midlands’ largest practices.
Earlier this year, the old Clement Keys team moved from its Edgbaston home to a new base on Blythe Valley Park in Solihull where 120 staff are now based.
The practice has created what may just be the most hip office of any accountancy firm, where visitors are greeted by bright colours, a running track, open place seating and a pink bull.
It was this outlook and fresh approach which secured the firm the Professional Services Award.
Audit partner Danny Parker said: “I would like to think we are different from all the other accountancy firms out there.
“It’s something we’re very proud of and we will continue to strive to be.
“Our outlook and culture are different.
“We are the only firm in the country that has open holiday policy so anyone in the firm can take as much holiday as they feel they need.
“We have breakout areas with pool tables and table tennis tables but it’s more about the inclusivity of the culture.
“Our office is all open plan so the chief executive and the chairman sit alongside the trainees – everybody is in it together.
“I think it’s a culture like no other and pervades both our offices in Solihull and Castle Donington.”
The practice has recently partnered with the Prince’s Trust to provide coaching, mentoring and training to young people.
Mr Parker said he expected the next couple of years to be “a period of real growth” for the firm.
He added: “We’ve been in the West Midlands for around 18 months now so we are still finding our feet but we are ready to go.
“We have a fantastic team in place to go out and win new business in the region.
“We are focused on privately owned companies in this region and we feel this is the area we can add the most value and we have services across the board to help those businesses.”
