Lee Longlands expands distribution warehouse

-

FURNITURE retailer Lee Longlands has expanded its logistics and distribution facility in the north of the city.

The company has grown its warehouse from 15,000 sq ft to 23,000 sq ft at Minworth Industrial Park following a £300,000 investment.

Lee Longlands said the new warehouse had a lower carbon footprint and the latest logistics picker technology as it bids to surpass its current delivery rate of 20,000 customer orders a year.

Managing director Darren Campo said: “This £300,000 investment was made with our employees and our home at heart.

“Having set up in the Midlands over 100 years ago, and trading from here ever since, we wanted to ensure that we were giving back to both the economy and the people of the region that has already given us so much.

“We’re constantly looking to improve our customer service, employee working practices and the efficiency of the business.

“The new facility means quicker delivery times, a lower carbon footprint and ensures we’re looking after our employees to the very highest standards.

“We’re really proud of the results so far and we hope our valued staff members and customers alike benefit from this move.”

Sister brand Furniture Barn will also be distributed from the Minworth warehouse, supplying stores in Sheffield, Doncaster and Grantham.

Sutton Coldfield’s deputy mayor Councillor Griffin formally opened the new warehouse.

He said: “It is great to have one of the Midlands’ well-known names choose to champion the region and support the continued growth of the area.

“Lee Longlands has a long local history and it is fantastic to have them continue their commitment to the area.”
