New craft ale pub set to open in city centre

-

BIRMINGHAM is to get a brand new craft beer pub, thanks to a privately-owned brewery moving into the city centre for the first time.

Camerons Brewery was established in 1865, but drinkers eager to sample a tipple will only have to wait until next spring to try a pint.

The new pub will be called The Head of Steam, like 12 other sites across the north of England.

Camerons, which is based in Hartlepool, will begin work on its new Birmingham pub in Temple Street in February.

The site used to be a Serenity beauty clinic for men and women, next door to the former Temple Street Social, which recently became Las Iguanas.

Serenity has moved to a temporary room in Regus, 43 Temple Row until new salon premises have been agreed and completed.

Head of Steam will boast 20 keg lines with a selection of rotating craft beers, ten cask ale lines including beers and real cider from around the region and beyond, plus a selection of cocktails, wines, spirits and soft drinks.

The food menu will include a mix of traditional British favourites, Americana and world dishes. Many will include the pub’s own drinks as key ingredients.

“Birmingham is an area which has a growing craft beer scene,” said Camerons Brewery chief executive Chris Soley.

“We’re very excited about what will be a key venue within our group. This Birmingham venue will be Camerons’ highest ever single site investment into a pub.”

The pub is scheduled to open in May.
