Elmo’s fired up for vital ten games

-

AHMED Elmohamady’s message is loud and clear: Now is the time for Villa to show what they’re made of.

The right-back reckons February and March are crucial months in the promotion hunt and believes Villa can shape their season in the next ten games.

Elmohamady has won promotion twice before with Steve Bruce at Hull City – in 2012/13 as Championship runners-up and in 2015/16 as play-off winners.

Asked about a third, he said: “It looks good and we are looking forward to the games coming up.

“The most important time in the Championship is the two months coming up. It makes a big difference in your season.

“Derby keep winning games now and the last couple of months they have been in great form.

“If you have good form for two or three months in the Championship it can make a big difference.”

Villa are five points behind the Rams and are in good form after three wins on the spin.

Games against Barnsley, Sheffield United, Burton Albion and Blues will give Bruce’s troops the chance to kick on and Elmohamady is excited for the run-in. Asked whether Villa are more equipped for promotion than his old Hull team, he said: “It’s different. This team have big names and that is the difference.

“Hull had a great group, to get promotion twice. We were a great team. Here there are great players in the team, who make the difference. John Terry at the back, Whelan in the midfield, Snodgrass. We have names who have played in the Premier League and the Championship.”
