Dion: Pardew perfect for the Championship
DION Dublin believes Albion must stick with Alan Pardew until the end of the season – and beyond.
Pardew replaced Tony Pulis in November but has proceeded to lead Albion to one league victory in 16 and the club are heading for the Championship.
The speculation surrounding Pardew’s future mounts week on week with the Baggies on a run of seven straight defeats, culminating in Saturday’s 4-1 hammering by Leicester City.
But Dublin, the former Villa striker, doesn’t see any point in removing Pardew from his role as boss at The Hawthorns now that the club is all but relegated.
He also believes the ex-Newcastle and Crystal Palace coach should be retained for their Championship assault next year.
“If you throw a new man in is it a lamb to the slaughter?” said Dublin. “I would keep Alan Pardew because they aren’t going to get out of it.
“And what kind of manager do you need when you’re in the Championship? An Alan Pardew.”
National reports suggest that Pardew could stay at the club until July.
The move would save Albion a considerable amount of money if they dismiss him– given the automatic wage reductions that come with relegation from the Premier League – with the report suggesting that the manager has refused to resign.
