Head to leave after exodus of 16 staff

-

A HEADTEACHER at a Midland school which has reportedly seen 16 teachers walkout since Christmas, is set to leave her post.

Angelina Robin-Jones will stand down from her role at North Bromsgrove High School at the end of this academic year due to “personal and health reasons”.

Pupils were due to be given the news in a special assembly on Tuesday while parents were to be told in a letter to be sent home, according to reports.

In a statement published on the school’s website, Elaine James, the chair of governors said: “Due to personal and health reasons, Mrs Robin-Jones will not be in school for the next few weeks and has given her notice to leave NBHS at the end of the academic year. We wish her well for the future.”

Deputy headteacher Adam Smith would take over the leadership for the remainder of the term. Mr Smith is expected to leave the school for a new role before the start of the next academic year.

“We are working closely with the Local Authority to secure leadership for NBHS for the new academic year,” the chair of governors added.

“We are pleased to say that we have successfully recruited to fill a number of vacancies recently and we are confident that the school will be fully staffed for September.”

Seven teachers were said to have resigned from the maths department which followed nine others leaving their posts at Christmas.

Parents had expressed their concerns with some having contacted MP Sajid Javid to ask for his intervention.

Ofsted carried out an inspection at the school on May 23 and 24 and the inspectors’ findings are yet to be released.
