Moore finally gets his first choice of No.2

-

WEST Bromwich Albion have finally unveiled Graeme Jones as the club’s new assistant head coach.

Jones will take to the dugout this weekend as the Baggies kick off their new Championship campaign at The Hawthorns against Bolton Wanderers, fresh from aiding Roberto Martinez with Belgium at this summer’s World Cup.

Darren Moore has had to wait patiently to get his man, but the club have been able to secure the services of his former Doncaster Rovers teammate who will work alongside Jimmy Shan and Neil Cutler in the existing backroom staff.

Ever since he was unveiled as West Brom manager in May, Moore has seen Jones as his first-choice No.2.

But the Baggies boss has had to bide his time as Jones had been helping to guide the Red Devils to the World Cup semi-finals as a key figure in Martinez’s backroom staff.

Moore is thought to have encouraged Jones to take a family holiday after returning from Russia with the Red Devils, who beat Gareth Southgate’s England to finish third. And the deal was postponed further by a minor injury Jones had to seek treatment for.

It’s no secret Moore has been keen to hire an experienced coach he has worked with before and who can bring attacking expertise to the backroom.

Yeovil Town have confirmed that they’ve accepted the bid from Albion for defender Tom James.

The 22-year-old, who tends to play at right-back, won a host of end-of-season awards for the Glovers as they finished 19th in League Two last season.

Yeovil confirmed that the offer that they’ve decided to take up will be a record fee the club has received, understood to be in the region of £400,000.

James, who can also play at left-back, made 51 appearances for the club last season and will now undergo a medical and discuss personal terms.
