Next to open new shop at Merry Hill centre

-

FASHION retailer Next will open its latest West Midlands branch at the Merry Hill centre next week.

The giant store will launch on August 14 and replace the old Sainsbury’s supermarket which closed down at the end of 2016.

The 75,680 sq ft outlet will be one of the UK’s largest Next stores and feature a full homeware department, children’s section and a Lipsy concession alongside the usual men’s and women’s fashion. Like many Next store nowadays, it will also have a Costa café.

This is the latest investment into the Dudley shopping centre following the complete takeover over the retail hub by Intu in 2016. The group, which specialises in the ownership and management of shopping centres, is undertaking a £100 million overhaul of the Black Country venue which has already seen a revamped bus station and enlarged stores for JD Sports, Topshop and River Island.

Brands such as Tag Heuer and Five Guys have also opened new shops there over the past couple of years.

Centre director Dan Murphy said: “We’re passionate about making Intu Merry Hill the best it can be and the opening of this flagship Next store allows us to provide shoppers with an even better experience when they come through our doors.

“We’re excited about the launch event this month and are hoping to welcome lots of familiar faces and new customers on the day.”
