£300,000 boost for health tech firm

-

A TECH start-up which is aiming to revolutionise diagnostic healthcare has secured £300,000 in new funding.

C7 Health is developing healthcare software aimed at digitally streamlining the process of diagnostic scans for patients which could minimise administration for GPs and reduce waiting times.

This new capital will enable the firm to build and test the platform.

C7 Health was founded in Henleyin-Arden in April and is the brainchild of Phil Webb, a former chief technology officer at medical tech group EMIS.

It is estimated that some NHS users wait up to six weeks for ultrasound scans and more than 40 million diagnostic scans are directed from England’s 7,500 GP surgeries every year.

The first version of the platform is now complete and C7 Health is set to begin working with its first ultrasound customer, Diagnostic World, to service GPs across England this month.

Mr Webb said: “As a clinical services-led company, C7 Health’s mantra is to work with healthcare providers to deliver solutions that will benefit patients rather than develop products that are great in theory but fail to make a real difference. The idea of creating a software platform that enables GPs to send automated instructions to their diagnostic providers, rather than going through a convoluted administrative process, is something that can revolutionise diagnostics in the NHS.

“The West Midlands is brimming with talent and I expect to appoint a minimum of three employees within the coming months as we begin helping patients on the ground.”

The £300,000 of new funding was provided equally by Midlands Engine Investment Fund and Mercia Fund Managers.
